The monograph examines such sections of the theory of extremal problems as the extremum of a function (both with and without constraints), calculus of variations, and optimal control. It contains theoretical foundations and methods for solving problems of the relevant sections. The basic concepts, theorems and methods for solving extremal problems are presented. Solutions of typical examples, both «manually» and using the computer math system MAPLE, are given. In total, more than 100 examples of which were thoroughly solved in MAPLE are given. All theoretical positions are supported by a detailed analysis of typical examples. Particular attention is paid to the description of methods for solving the problems under consideration.
